Let’s keep the landfills a little less filled

I thought I would take a break from blogging about sustainable oral health products to inform everyone about a wonderful recycling program I have just discovered. Colgate and Terracyle have teamed up to recycle all brands of oral healthcare products, which includes plastic toothbrushes, empty tubes, floss boxes, and even empty toothbrush boxes. Unfortunately, at this time they are unable to recycle electric toothbrushes or toothbrush heads.

In order to recycle these products, all products must be dry and as empty as possible. They also requested that you ship a minimum of five pounds of products to reduce your carbon footprint. Terracycle and Colgate even go as far as providing a free shipping label to make it even easier to the consumer.

Once collected, these recyclable products that cannot typically be recycled through most community recycling drop-off centers, are then melted down into new plastic products. As if this program wasn’t amazing enough, Terracycle will make a donation for every box of recyclables to your nonprofit or school of your choice!

As of this morning, the program is still actively collecting during the pandemic.
